Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park is the second largest national park in Botswana, and has some of the greatest concentrations of game found in Africa.

A major feature of Chobe National Park is its elephant population, which comprise of what is probably the largest surviving continuous elephant population in the world. The Chobe elephant are migratory, making seasonal movements from the Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they disperse in the rainy season. Elephants in this area have the distinction of being the largest in body size of all living elephants.

Generally the best game viewing is in the dry months from April to October, although birding is at its height from November to March

The park is divided into four different eco systems: Serondela, with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area in the extreme north-east of Botswana, the Savuti Marsh in the west about sixty kilometers north of Mababe gate, the Linyanti Swamps in the north-west and the hot dry hinterland in between.

Four-wheel drive vehicles are essential, with the deep sand in some areas testing the capabilities of the vehicle and skill of our driver. In the Chobe we set up camp at Ihaha, Savuti or Linyanti, all of which have shower and toilet facilities available.

Although there is much to see in the Chobe National Park, it is also close to Zambia and Zimbabwe, and we usually recommend combining this with a trip to the Victoria Falls and Livingstone.

We look forward to showing you this remarkable area. We have our own 4 x 4, and will tailor make a trip to suit your requirements. For groups of more than four guests, we will use two vehicles as well as an accompanying 4 x 4 trailer.
