Hiking Trails

Undoubtedly the best known and most popular of the South African hiking trails,  is the Otter trail must ranked alongside the best trails in the world. The trail follows the spectacular Eastern Cape coastline from Storms River Mouth to Natures Valley in the Tsitsikamma National Park.

The trail is 42,5kms long and takes 4 1/2 days to complete. It follows the rugged, rocky shoreline ranging in elevation from sea level to a height of more than 150m. Most of the trail follows cliff tops returning to sea level to cross rivers.

Amongst other popular trails is the spectacular Dolphin Trail, where along with the Otter Trail whales and dolphins are often spotted by hikers.

The 17 km trail starts as above in Tsitsikamma National Park at Storms River Mouth. There are amaising views of the rough Tsitsikamma coastline, with dolphins regulary sighted. There are the outside chances of spotting whales, or even an otter. The Knysna Loerie is abundant and you are bound seen and heard this unique bird whilst hiking through the forests.
