Botswana Tours ..... Why not?

Acknowledged as the most successful, politically stable and peaceful of all the African countries, Botswana is the world's largest producer of gem quality diamonds. As a result of this and its beef industry, Botswana has been allowed to develop its tourism without the desperate need for revenues that face other African countries, resulting in an eco-tourism policy that has resulted in visitors being able to experience Africa at its most natural, unspoilt and stunningly beautiful best.

Botswana is home to the Okavango Delta, in the north-west, where the Okavango River flows in from the highlands of Angola and soaks into the sands, forming the 15,000 sq. km network of water channels, lagoons, swamps and islands. The Okavango is the largest inland delta system in the world.

The Kalahari Desert covers 84% of Botswana and extends far beyond Botswana's western borders, covering substantial parts of South Africa, Namibia and Angola. The northeastern region of the Kalahari Basin contains the Makgadikgadi and Xnai Pans - an extensive network of salt pans and ephemeral lakes.

Whilst in the Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve, wildlife is plentiful, especially in the dry winter months when great concentrations of elephant, buffalo and zebra congregate along the river, with giraffe, impala and roan antelope being seen in the forests. The birdlife is diverse, if not overwhelming in its numbers. Water birds, including pelican, are common.

Botswana is bordered by Zambia and Zimbabwe to the northeast, Namibia to the north and west, and South Africa to the south and southeast. At Kazungula, just outside of Kasane, four countries - Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia - meet at a single point mid-stream in the Zambezi River.
